May 13 meeting - Ron Van Winkle, West Hartford Town Manager

Our guest speaker last week was Ron Van Winkle, Town Manager of West Hartford. Ron started his presentation with a brief history of taxation in CT, noting that it used to be everything was taxed, including dogs and cats. He also talked about the challenge of balancing the state's requirements and the town's needs. His outlook for West Hartford was bright, noting that it has been named one of the top places in the country for raising families. He also noted the high accolades the school system receives.
