Our guest speaker was Rick Ledwith - Town Manager for the Town of West Hartford. Rick discussed the many things happening in the town right now, and the many things on the horizon. The town is at a bit of a crossroads: there are not enough rental units to meet the demand. Yet on the other hand, how dense a town do we want to become?
Projects in motion are:
- the new Elmwood Community Center planned for 100 Mayflower Street
- The Center Infrastructure Master Plan
- Numerous multi-family structures, many designed with mixed use and affordable units
- A proposal to place multifamily housing on the old Children's Museum Site
