Secretary of the State Visits WH Rotary
A Vibrant Meeting!
We had a 30 Rotarians and friends at Monday's meeting when Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas spoke. It was a wonderful gathering seeing everyone there and meeting new people. The Secretary spoke about government, civics and the different aspects of voting (absentee v. early voting etc.). Hopefully I downloaded the pictures correctly. If I did (smile), you will see that instead of our usual, giving speakers a Rotary mug, we had the Secretary sign two new children's books that will be donated to the West Hartford Library.
At this meeting, we requested interested parties to work on Vines. Your help is needed with sponsorships, auction items or any other creative assistance you can provide. Wanna work on the committee? Speak up! I guarantee we have a place for you! Also at this meeting we honored Kyle Egress who received his Paul Harris [6+] Pin with the RED stone. He joins many other Rotarians in the ongoing commitment of service above self. Thank you and congrats Kyle!
Thank you to the many that helped make this particular meeting a wonderful success. I'd like to give a special shout out to Greg Freidline and his AV team who arrived early and had everything set up and ready to go when the Secretary arrived. It was critical that we had everything go well and on time, as the Pond House needed to prepare right after our meeting, for a wedding that day!
Seeing some and missing other Rotarians, we hope to see you soon. Our next meeting is Monday 9/16, and our speaker will be Jeff Murray, local author and historian. I LOVE meeting local authors! Join me this Monday and hear all about Jeff.
