President Hap Leabman called the meeting to order. There were 30 members present, one visiting Rotarian from the Wethersfield/Rocky Hill club and  two guests.

David Mangs sang the invocation.

Cindy Lang reported that Lobsterfest tickets are now available, Save the date: Saturday, September 7. People are needed to set up Friday evening, work the event on Saturday and clean up on Sunday.

Kyle Egress reported further progress on Lobsterfest sponsorships. The total is now $3,100. the goal is $10,000.

Seven club members are signed up to play in the district golf outing on August 5 in Longmeadow.

Hap reported that the board has agreed to support two backpacks projects, one here in West Hartford and the other a regional effort led by the Glastonbury club that will purchase supplies for Hartfrd first graders. He reminded all present of his desire for all members to join at least one club committee.

Don Chandler asked everyone to respond to the fellowship activities survey sent out via mail.

Roshan Patel said the Sweet Frog frozen yogurt shop in West Hartford Center has agreed to do a fundraiser with us. Ten percent of all proceeds on August 28 will go to our club.

There were no birthdays this week.

The card raffle is up to $267. Still no winners.

Our guest speaker today was Tom Condon, columnist for the Hartford Courant. He spoke about the New Britain/Hartford Busway.
