Thirty three Rotarians and guests met at the Pond House Cafe in West Hartford on Monday, April 20th for a regularly scheduled meeting.  Guest speaker and Rotarian Kate Sims was the guest speaker and discussed Rotaract.
 
Present: 31 Rotarians and 2 guests.
 
Club President’s remarks:
 
1.President Cindy – discussed an opportunity to support a UConn / Jim Calhoun walk / cycle event on May 30th – to support lifesaving research.  The Club could also run the Amber Alert booth at the event.  More to follow
2.– Shared thank you letters from Susan Chandler and the CT Brain Tumor Alliance
3.Reminded all of the upcoming District Conference 24-25 April in Hartford.
4. Talked about two potential international grant possibilities:
a.Haiti water project this grant is being drafted
b.NICU web camera – this would be international grant money supporting the project here
5.PDG Eileen Rau shared a Foundation Moment – she highlighted her $2 bill pin and noted that $2 per week is $100 donation for the year. 
6.- She presented Oscar Santo Domingo with his Paul Harris Fellowship pin / award +2.
7.– Reminded all of the District Training Assembly on May 13th and the End Polio Now! Night at the Rock Cats on May 29th.
8.President Cindy noted that will be working to bring members from two groups (HANOC and MOSAIC) to the Rock Cats game.
9.Mary Silverberg – discussed the upcoming club event, attending a presentation of ‘Hair’ at the Playhouse on Park on Friday July 10th.  Tickets are $36 ($34 for those 62+) and a 50% down payment is due by May 1st.
10.David Gerrol – reported on a NICU committee meeting.  10 cameras are at  / being installed at Hartford Hospital now and 10 more are coming – destination TBD.
11.Bob Kor – LobsterFest 2015 is only 60 days away – June 20th.  Tickets are now on sale on the Rotary website.
 
Sergeant at Arms John Smeallie reports 31 Rotarians and 2 guests present, guest speaker Kate Sims and Tom from ASD.
 
Guest speaker and Rotarian Kate Sims gave a presentation on Rotaract.  Rotaract clubs are for 18-30 year olds, and can either be university based or community based.  There are 5 clubs in the district at this time.
 
The meeting was adjourned at 1:30, with Oscar Santo Domingo leading the 4-way test.  The next meeting is April 27th, 2015 at Pondhouse Cafe.
