Club Presidents opening remarks:

2.     Cindy Lang discussed the ‘NICView’ project that is being worked with four other clubs.  This project places webcams in NICU bassinets, allowing parents and other family and friends to view babies in the NICU via a password-protected website.  A launch is planned on 4/29 at Farmington Gardens from noon to 2pm.

3.     Eileen Rau reported that the Annual Fund drive is up to $6407 – 98% of the club target, though with a gap to the $10,000 target.

4.     The Farmington Rotary Club will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary on 6/12/14 at Farmington Gardens.  All are invited to attend this celebration. West Hartford Rotary Club sponsored the Farmington Club.

5.     Don Chandler discussed the status of his grant application for the AV facility at ASD.  He received comments back, but only one page.  He is working to answer them.

6.     Kyle Egress reminded everyone that only 61 days remain until Lobster Fest, and encouraged all to sell tickets!    Help is also needed with brochures.

7.     DG Eileen presented Joe Stafford with his Paul Harris Fellowship (+1).

Sergeant at Arms Todd Bower reports 27 Rotarians are present, with one visiting Rotarian, Eric Powers from the Enfield Club.  Three guests were present:  Speaker Mayor Scott Slifka; Dawn Hardin, a guest of Cindy, and Theresia Oberst, a guest of Shari Cantor.

Happy dollars were collected. The pot is up to $57 but no one drew the winning card.

Mayor Scott Slifka was guest speaker and his talk focused on the historic levels of development going on in town at this time.   A new boutique hotel across from the police station and a 200+ luxury apartment complex on Steele Road are two of the current developments under consideration.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:40, with Hap leading the 4-way test.  The next meeting is April 28th, 2014 at Pondhouse Cafe.

Respectfully submitted,

Chad Licht, scribe
