Bob Keily opened the meeting with an invocation and a moment of silence to observe veteran’s day

Hap started the meeting recognizing the club’s veterans in Honor of Veteran’s day. All of our members who are veterans spoke briefly about their time in service. It was very inspiring.

Other announcements:

• Considering options for donating relief funds to Philippines.
• Foundation dinner recap
• 1/19 End Polio Event – check email from Eileen for details
• Kyle with an update on Liberty Bank food bank project $1300+ has been collected so far
• Mary talked about plans for a get together for a play in March (3/20, 3/21 or 3/22)
• Donation thank yous

Sargeant at Arms, Todd Bower reports _31__ Rotarians, 2___ visiting Rotarians and 1 guest (Jason from Farmington club) are present.

Anniversaries and birthdays: No anniversaries or birthdays
Happy dollars were collected.
The 50/50 raffle is up to $77 and we are looking for King of clubs. There was NO winner today.

Booker introduced today’s speaker Matt Washower (sp?)
Matt spoke of his book “History of CT and the Civil War”
• CT sent 55,000 to the war
• CT fields 29 field regiments
• Gov William Buckingham served throughout the war
• 1863 Election was pivotal to CT’s support of the union

The meeting was adjourned at 1:30, with Hap leading the 4-way test. The next meeting is
November 18, 2013 at Pondhouse Cafe.
