Meeting minutes - 27 April
Matthew Fitzsimons, Executive Director of Grace Academy in Hartford, was guest speaker at the club meeting on Monday April 27th. Matthew, joined by two students and a faculty member, discussed the school and answered questions. Meeting minutes:
Kyle Egress gave the opening invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Club President’s remarks:
1.President Cindy – discussed an opportunity to support a UConn / Jim Calhoun walk / cycle event on May 30th – to support lifesaving research. The Club is looking for 7 volunteers to staff the Amber Alert booth.
2.– Recapped the District conference, and noted that the club agreed to provide $1000 for a Shelter Box for Nepal.
3.– Encouraged people to attend the Rotary Training Assembly on May 13th in Enfield
4.– Discussed a MOSAIC benefit lunch in Cromwell on May 21st – see her for details.
5.PDG Eileen Rau shared a Foundation Moment – and noted that donations for this Rotary year are due by June 30th.
6.- Reminded all of End Polio Now! Night at the Rock Cats on May 29th.
7.Todd Bower – passed around signup sheets for Celebrate West Hartford. The event is 6/5 – 6/7 and is just over a month away.
8.Kyle Egress – reminded all of the installation dinner – 5:30 to 8:00pm on 6/23 at Pond House Café.
9.Mary Silverberg – discussed the upcoming club event, attending a presentation of ‘Hair’ at the Playhouse on Park on Friday July 10th. Tickets are $36 ($34 for those 62+) and a 50% down payment is due by May 1st.
10.Bob Kor – LobsterFest 2015 is less than two months away – June 20th. Tickets are now on sale on the Rotary website.
Sergeant at Arms John Smeallie reports 32 Rotarians and 3 guests present, including Gail Stafford (spouse of Joe).
Matthew Fitzsimons, Executive Director of Grace Academy in Hartford, was the guest speaker. He gave an overview of Grace Academy, a private college-prep school for girls in grades 5-8. He then turned it over to two students and a faculty member who shared their experiences and answered questions.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:38, with President Cindy leading the 4-way test. The next meeting is May 4th, 2015 at Pondhouse Cafe.
