Thirty two Rotarians and two guests met at Pond House Cafe on Monday the 26th of October for a club meeting.  Detective Frank Fallon and Officer Kevin McCarthy from the WHPD were guest speakers.  Meeting minutes follow:
 
Polly Hincks - let with the invocation and Pledge
 
Dave Gerrol - was featured in the career spotlight.  He discussed long term health care, noting that costs are rising but government support has been slashed.  He showed a graphic which illustrated relative risks vs. what we insure:
1 in 1200 - odds of needing home insurance.
5 in 1200 - odds of needing car insurance.
105 in 1200 for hospitalization  / health insurance.
For those over 65, odds are 840 in 1200 for needing long term health care.  Retirement funds often end up funding it.

Rick Spear - was presented a thank you for his help with our web domain
 
Hap Leabman - discussed sharpening Rotary message.  Noted that Rotary is 1 of 2 NGOs with seat at UN (other is Red Cross).  Trying to boil it down to three words.
 
John Smeallie gave a Vines update - we have new donations from ASD, WHC-TV.  
 
Bennett Forrest - provided an update on the book drive, which is in its last week.
 
Dave Mangs-  Shared the bio / resume of a Dunn scholarship applicant
 
Sergeant At Arms- Past President Cindy Lang (filling in) reported: 31 Rotarians, 1 visiting Rotarian Steve from the Southwick club, and 2 guests: Rick Spear and Kevin Mangs in attendance, plus two guest speakers.
 
Detective Frank Fallon and Officer Kevin McCarthy from the WHPD were the guest speakers.  The discussed the status of the WHPD, noting that the force is understaffed and highlighting the tough application process.
 
President Kyle Egress led the Four Way Test and adjourned the meeting.
