A Hand Up is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization working with a number of social agencies in the Greater Hartford area to identify clients in need of our services. They assist people transitioning to independent living. A Hand Up receives donated furniture and household goods to help our neighbors establish their new homes, and raises funds to help offset expenses and is staffed entirely by volunteers. Kyle Brewer is leading this effort.
The first support event was held on Sunday May 4th. Kyle and Chad Licht helped load furniture and household goods at the A Hand Up warehouse in West Hartford and then helped move the items into an apartment in a nearby town.
Going forward, A Hand Up will generally conduct moves mid-day on the weekends and Kyle will forward opportunities as they arise. A Hand Up is also accepting donations of furniture and various household goods such as lamps, linen, and kitchen supplies.
